Vegetarian Food at Cappadocia

Vegetarian food at Cappadocia is a thing! Often a country whose cuisine is associated with meaty kebab dishes where essentially the food revolves around beef or lamb, you might not commonly associate Turkish food to be rich with delicious vegetarian options. Although finding Turkish foods with meat isn’t difficult, the vegetarian variety is also plentiful. Here at Cappadocia we have a variety of mouth-watering meat-free dishes for you to try. We even offer vegan options on selected dishes.

Vegetarian Starters

A Turkish dinner table is not complete without bread, and it’s no different here at Cappadocia. All our delicious bread is baked fresh every day in our kitchen.

It’s a favourite with all our diners including ‘IChooseBham’. Here’s what they had to say about it: “Can we talk about the bread for a minute? …it’s a fully fledged meal focal point. They make it fresh, in-house and it’s a slobbering great revelation.”

Served with all our cold starters, our bread is the perfect accompaniment to our vegetarian dishes and meze dips (some of which are vegan; for example, our Hummus and Patlican Soslu). There is just so much choice. If you can’t decide what to go for, then why not opt for one of our Turkish mixed cold mezes? A selection of three or six tantalising mezes recommended by our Chefs. Perfect for a light lunch or a sharing option or a warm summers evening perhaps.

Alternatively, if you fancy something hot to begin your Turkish feast with, then why not try our traditional Middle Eastern Falafels. These crispy, delicious balls are made with fried broad beans and chickpeas and are seasoned with fresh herbs.

Meat Free Turkish Kebabs

It might not look like a traditional Turkish kebab on a skewer but our ever popular ‘Veggie Kebab’ is just that. It’s cooked on a charcoal grill and tastes just as good as our meaty kebabs! Bursting with flavour from juicy aubergine (used a lot in Turkish cooking), red and green peppers, mushrooms and onions, this dish is topped with a beautiful garlic and tomato sauce. It’s a vegetarian delight. Served with rice and salad this is a perfect heart-warming evening dish in any season. And if you’ve got any of that delicious sauce left – it’s even better mopped up with our freshly baked bread.

Squeaky cheese – always a winner and perfect for summery dishes and starters! Try our ‘Hellim and Biber Kebab’. Made with tasty Cypriot Halloumi cheese and mixed peppers, this kebab is cooked on our charcoal grill, and is served with rice and a side salad. Alternatively, we serve our Hellim as a starter if you fancy a light lunch or to start your Turkish feast with.
